Anderson, IN – Mounds State Park

Registration: Print | Online

Difficulty rating: Hills 3 / Surface: 2 (1=easy, 5=difficult)

Mounds State Park, in Anderson, is a special jewel in East Central Indiana. It is very popular with runners including the annual Run the Mounds fall 5 mile race. Mounds offers scenic views of White River and the intriguing ceremonial mounds the park is named for. Mounds is less than an hour drive away from downtown Indianapolis.

The DINO course finds the most challenging terrain available in the park. Nearly all trail, the route manages to hit every possible hill, boardwalk, and stairway available!

The 5k utilizes the northern trails of the park, starting just inside the park gatehouse. Aid stations will be at approximately mile 1 and 2.5.

15k runners will continue southward from the 5k finish and pass the ancient mounds including the Great Mound and Fiddleback Mound, then pass the start line en route to a second lap of the course. [Course Map.]
