VASQUE DINO TRAIL RUN SERIES

Difficulty rating: Hills: 4 / Surface: 2 (1=easy, 5=difficult)

Last year's cold, steady rain and puddled trails didn't dampen the spirits of over 250 runners and walkers who hit the trails at the Vasque DINO Trail Run Ft Harrison!

The past years' course may be totally changed due to planned construction of mountain bike trails at Ft Harrison. This new improvement will not only allow mountain biking, but may double the number of miles of dirt trail available to trail runners and hikers. It should also give a more enjoyable trail experience to all users. If you are interested in helping construct trail, please contact us at DINO or visit HMBA.org.

Below is the 2007-2008 course description:
The 5k course is a lollipop shape counterclockwise on the Lawrence Creek Trail. It will include 2/10 mile pavement at the start and end. The remainder of the course is wide trail, with generally stable footing. The aid station will be at mile 2.

The 15k course is the only out-and-back course in the Vasque DINO Trail Run Series. After running the Lawrence creek Trail clockwise, you will enter the horse trail and run its entirety. Just before the turn-around is a tough segment with a creek crossing (you can stay dry if you are careful) and two very steep hills. You'll turn around at the horse barn area and backtrack the entire way, seeing who's trying to catch you.

Note: This horse trail is available to foot traffic in November – March ONLY. Foot traffic at other times is prohibited.

All races will be Eastern time. Indiana does observe daylight savings time.

  • 7:30AM ~ Registration Opens
  • 8:30AM ~ Registration Closes
  • 9:00AM ~ 15K Start
  • 9:10AM ~ 5K Starts
  • 11:00AM ~ Award Ceremony

Directions: From 56 th Street and Post Road (Use I-70 to Post, or I-465 to 56 th), go north on Post to 59 th . Turn left into the park. The race start/finish/registration is at the Reddick shelter.

Gate fee of $5 per vehicle ($7 out-of-state) will be required as you enter, or you can purchase an annual entrance pass and enjoy any State Park all year long.

DINO VICTORY BANQUET

Following the race, please join us for the DINO Victory Banquet at noon. Our series award winners will receive their jerseys and awards, and we'll have a chance to mingle with our fellow trail runners. Location is TBA.
