DINO TRIATHLON SERIES
General Information
DINO LLC continues to offer the only two XTERRA Triathlons in Indiana . New Castle , just 40 minutes east of Indianapolis , provides Westwood Park as a fantastic course for the third year. Westwood's mountain bike trail has drawn rave reviews from riders far and near. Once again, we'll visit the clear quarry lake and stunning cliffs at Logansport 's France Park – making it the seventh annual. France Park draws many Chicago area athletes, and is a good course for first-time XTERRA athletes.
Each date features an off-road triathlon which earns you points in the XTERRA America Tour, plus a canoe / kayak division to challenge the non-swimmer or aspiring adventure racer. The DINO Triathlon courses will be well-marked but a bit more interesting than the standard road triathlon!
WHAT IS A DINO TRIATHLON?
DINO's Triathlons are the same format as a sprint to mid-distance triathlon; except the course is all unpaved: including surfaces such as dirt single-track, fire roads, and gravel. The scenery is fantastic, the challenge is refreshing, and the atmosphere is fun! You'll need to use a mountain bike and helmet, but otherwise, you won't need anything special to do the race.
DISTANCES*:
Triathlon: 0.5 mi swim / 10 mi mountain bike / 4 mi trail run
Canoe / Kayak: 1 mi canoe or kayak / 10 mi mountain bike / 4 mi trail run
* Distances approximate and subject to change.
* Points for the XTERRA America Tour Series are given for the TRIATHLON only.
