MISSION Adventure Race
Saturday, May 9, 2015
Whitewater Memorial State Park / Brookville Lake - Liberty, IN
6:00AM - Midnight EDT (18 hour cutoff)
We are excited to present the 13th Annual MISSION Adventure Race in a new location; one that affords mile after mile of beautiful lakeshores, trails, back roads, and deep woods. You will be surprised by the topography and expanses of land in this part of Indiana... and we've got an epic race in the works for you!
The MISSION Lite offers beginner adventure racers a chance to see what it's all about. A shorter, 4-hour cutoff; less complex navigation; and reduced gear list allow an introductory taste of AR.
Participants travel by foot, bicycle, and canoe in teams (or in the Solo division), using map and compass to find checkpoints. Each team must stay together the entire race. Along the way, they will encounter various natural and manmade challenges that test physical and mental ability and creativity.
For those up to the challenge, a solo division is offered.
The course is designed to keep most participants going all 18 hours, creating a dramatic finish line setting where family and friends can cheer for their team as they emerge from the darkness.
Navigation (entire event; includes plotting with UTM coordinates at 1:25,000)

START / FINISH / TRANSITION AREA LOCATION
Whitewater Memorial State Park
Liberty, Indiana Website
Parking and race start/finish is at the Poplar Grove Shelter (near the campground guard station). This is Shelter "A" on the map. The shelter lot will fill; overflow parking is in the campground visitor's lot, 2/10 mile from the shelter.
Normal gate fees ($5 per Indiana vehicle, $7 for out of state) are charged for park entry.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday, May 9
Saturday, May 10
Transition Area Opens
Teams may be three or two persons. The six team divisions are: 2 & 3 person Co-ed, 2 & 3 Female, and 2 & 3 Male. All teammates must remain within 100 feet of each other at all times. The field limit is 50 teams per race length.
Participants applying for the 18 hour solo division must provide a resume of experience. An adventure race of this distance and difficulty is much safer with team support.
To apply for the Solo Division, send a race resume along with entry form and payment. Race resumes should include recent solo or team adventure races, orienteering meets, etc. Include official results as proof. The key issue is safety; that you are a competent navigator and make good decisions with regard to safety. Solo participants are asked to carry a cell phone with them at all times.

DINO has reserved the park's twenty family cabins about two miles from the race start/finish. When you register for the race, you can book cabin space for your team.
Each cabin contains one queen bed, two twin beds, and one queen-size sofa sleeper. Each cabin also has a kitchen. You must provide your own sleeping bag or linen, pillow, towels, and dishes and cookwear if you plan to cook.
Each team or soloist can book one half of a cabin. We will pair two-person teams together in a cabin, and soloists with three-person teams. If you wish to book a full cabin, you may do so. Booking covers Friday May 8 through Sunday May 9. Half-cabin is $80, full cabin $160.
Whitewater Memorial has a nice campground very close to the MISSION Start/Finish areas if you prefer to camp. Reservations
The nearest towns with multiple motels / hotels are Oxford, Ohio or Richmond, Indiana.
Entry in the event covers a nice pre-race dinner on Friday night (7:00PM). Post-race recovery meal will be served at the end of each race. During the event, each team or soloist is to be self-sufficient.
