The DINO Adventure Triathlon courses will be well-marked (no orienteering).
The course begins with a lake swim or paddle. Then transition to your mountain bike for a challenging route through nearby Jackson-Washington State Forest. Better bring your climbing legs! Returning again to the beach for transition 2, you'll slip on your running shoes and test your mettle against the Knobstone Trail!

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
SWIM: The swim start is from a sandy beach. The course is a 0.6 mile rectangular loop in Delaney Park's lake. Lifeguards will be patrolling the course on kayaks or canoes.
BIKE: The 19 mile bike route is a very fast course, primarily fire trail and dirt / gravel road, with a small amount of singletrack near the beginning and end. Between miles 1 and 2, cyclists climb a hill of about 250 feet on a fire trail. The next 3 miles are relatively level through Jackson Washington State Forest. At mile 5, the course joins twisting county roads (gravel and 2.5 miles paved) for a loop containing several smaller up and downhills. Finally, the course returns downhill to Delaney Park using the same 5 miles that started the route.
RUN: Heading east again into Jackson Washington State Forest, runners join portions of the Knobstone Trail. The most difficult climb is about 250' vertical, between mile 2 and 3. The downhill return begins at mile 4. About half of the route is wide and stable trail, the remainder is more narrow and challenging.
CANOE / KAYAK:
You may bring your own boat or rent a Cobra Explorer (single seat, sit-on-top kayak; includes paddle and life vest) from Doin'it Outdoors. All boats must be 18' or less in length. Life vests are required. All boats must be solo powered except relay teams, which may send any number of team members in the boat. The race will begin with a short mass-start run to the boats. The canoe / kayak portion of the race consists of two laps of 0.6 miles each.
The field is limited to 50 total canoes or kayaks. Register early!!

AWARDS:
Plaques or trophies to overall winners, medals to top finishers in age categories. In addition, merchandise, and/or gift certificates provided by XTERRA sponsors will be awarded to the overall and age group winners and presented as random door prizes.
