The Indy Cyclocross scene has been growing steadily over the past few years - make your 'cross debut on either a mountain bike or a cyclocross bike. What is Cyclocross? Cyclocross is somewhat of a blend between mountain bike racing and road racing. A short course (1 to 1.5 miles) consists of a variety of terrain such as trails, pavement, gravel, grass. Several barriers, steep hills, or stairs require you do dismount and push or carry your bike. First place receives 25 points, 24 for second... etc. The best four scores are added to calculate the series results. Thus, the highest possible series score is 100 points. The final race is DOUBLE POINTS - worth two races. You could attend only three events (two plus the final), and attain a full slate of points (100 max).
