A brisk but beautiful morning greeted a group of over 300 runners for the 2nd annual Tecumesh Trail Marathon. After a bus ride to the start, the race began. The course led through fire roads, gravel roads, and some of the most challenging hiking trails in Indiana. In addition to the relentless hills, careful footwork was needed over streams, logs, rocks, steps, and mud.

Throughout the next hours, each runner faced these challenges and more. From the winners (Stephen Wolcott 3:04, Bonnie Sexton 3:47) to those who missed the evening cut-off, each one has a story to tell.

As one runner stated, summing up the thougts of many others:
"It was the most difficult and the most rewarding run I have ever done."
