Located in one of the nation's largest city parks, on Indy's northwest side, the course offers many scenic views of Eagle Creek Reservoir. The race route is one of the easier trails in the 6-race series, making it a perfect starting place for first-time trail runners. The races start at 9:00 am (15k distance) and 9:10 am (5k distance). She's gaining a husband! At the Town Run Trail Park race in April, Cindy was at the finish line area after the race. It is there that she met James Harris, himself a notable performer in the 5k series. James has competed in DINO's Mountain Bike Series also, and was instrumental in making the 2001 season successful by working on DINO Staff as a photographer and PA system specialist. The two talked after the race and exchanged numbers. The next week at the Mini-Marathon, Cindy asked DINO's Amanda Holzhausen about James. Later, at a mountain bike event, James learned about Cindy's inquiry. James then decided to make a phone call. The phone call prompted their first date in early June. Apparently it went well... the couple now has a wedding date set for August 23. Congratulations to James Harris and Cindy Moll! ##### OTHER UPCOMING TRAIL RUN EVENTS March 22, Indianapolis IN: Holliday Park Trail Run (5 mi) http://www.tuxbro.com/holliday_park_trail_run%20info.htm April 12, Salem, IN: Delaney Park - 50 mile, 50k, marathon, half-marathon, or 10k on the Knobstone Trail. There is no reason to miss out on the beauty and challenge of trail running due to this worry. While it's true that injuries can occur due to uneven ground, the softer surface of a trail is gentler overall to the body's joints, muscles, and tendons. There are ways to prevent ankle injuries. Most importantly, strengthen the ankles. A simple approach is to merely rotate and bend your foot while sitting (both by hand and using your leg muscles). This stretches and strengthens the tendons. You could do this at work behind a desk. You can build strength by standing on one foot, using lower leg muscles to keep you upright. If this is too easy, just close your eyes for a new level of challenge. A few minutes of this per day will make a difference. By wearing trail-specific shoes you can also help protect yourself. The wider base of support and grippier tread will help your feet land safely. If you are new to trail running, start gradually. You will build strength and confidence with each run and work your way to longer and harder trail runs.
