The wettest weeks of the year coincided with the first DINO Trail Run Series of 2006. Early Saturday morning, however, trails were relatively dry. About an hour prior to race start, the skies let loose and the rain continued all morning with only a short break during the 15k.

The rain did not seem to dampen spirits however, as soaked, mud-splattered runners and walkers returned with smiles. Just big kids playing in the mud... that is what DINO is all about!

All in all, more than 250 runners tackled the course's terrain. Colorful plaques awaited those who placed top three in each age group.

Race #2 in the DINO Trail Run Series is Saturday, April 22. Washington Township Community Park in Avon, Indiana, plays host once again for the event, which always showcases the blooms and blossoms of spring.

The course contains an interesting mix of easy wide paths and narrow, hilly trail. 15k runners will complete three laps on this course that is very spectator friendly.

Following the DINO Trail Run, the DINO Spring Tune-up mountain bike race will hit the trails. For novice riders, check out the HMBA Intro Racing Clinic on Friday April 21 at 6 pm.
