Summer Arrives in April for DINO at Avon
It appeared that summer arrived early for Saturday's DINO Trail Run. The trails were dry and dusty, and afternoon temperatures peaked at around 90 degrees. It was a very welcome day to many trail runners, who laid in
the sun to catch a few rays before the award presentation. The weather was a stark contrast to the same race one year earlier, where temperatures hovered below freezing and snow fell during the race.
A three-lap race on the very visible course offered great viewing of the race action. Running 54:29, 15k winner Steve MacIntyre put over a minute on the next finisher, Damon Nicholas, and Dan Schramm in third at 58:13. MacIntyre's win backs up his Eagle Creek win placing him solidly in the points lead. Robin Rizzo was the first female at 1:12:25. Second place went to Judy Warner and third to Kristy
Lippencott.
In the one-lap 5k race, Cindy Harris continued her win streak as Abby Hodges and Jennifer Short took second and third for the women. The men's 5k winners were all within a 20-second finish, with Josh Sluder claiming the win at 18:22, followed by Jesse Cacy and Joe Hoffman. Masters champ (and 2003 5k Series champ) James Harris followed in 4th, outsprinting Rick Goddard to the line.

Dirt Day Festival Follows June 5 DINO Trail Run
The next DINO Trail Run Series event is June 5 at Town Run Trail Park, located on Indianapolis' northeast side along the White River at 96th Street. Following the DINO Trail Run, the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association
presents Dirt Day.
Dirt Day includes mountain bike skill clinics, seminars, demo rides and sales; plus raffles, food, drinks, and entertainment. A DINO Mountain Bike Series race will follow on Sunday afternoon.
The DINO Trail Run course at Town Run Trail Park consists of many short up- and downhills across the White River levee. The 15k course will consist of a 5k loop and then a 10k loop. The trail surface is generally smooth and well-groomed. But watch out - the short hills add to make a surprisingly challenging course.
