This unique park has been host to many trail running and mountain bike events in recent years. Saturday, June 1 is the date. Start time is 9:00 am (Indiana and Chicago are currently on the SAME time). Registration begins at 7:00. Directions: From I-94 take SR249 (exit 19) south to U.S.20. Head east to Samuelson Rd. South to Portage Ave. Turn East to park entrance. Follow the signs in the park. Held at New Castle's beautiful Westwood Park, the race was the second event in the 2002 DINO Trail Run Series. 8 year old Yasmin Abdelhak of Indianapolis was the youngest finisher ever in the DINO Trail Run Series. She finished the 5k distance, as did 72 year old Hunter Goin, of Columbus, IN. Race winners in the 15k were: Male-- 1st - Russ Goodman; 2nd - Mark Doctor; 3rd OA/ Masters - Alan Bell; 4th - Lance Rygiel Female-- 1st - Lisa Harber; 2nd - Nita Martens; 3rd - Kim Robinson; Masters - Susan Edwards In the 5k: Male-- 1st - Matt Harber; 2nd - Christopher Sinnett; 3rd OA/ Masters - Duane Dye; 4th - Trent Sinnett Female-- 1st - Cindy Moll; 2nd - Michelle Kline; 3rd - Brenda Winkhart; Masters - Barb Stayton Full Results: http://www.dinoseries.com/run/results/2002/race2results.htm Son and Father lead the 5k Point Standings... Christopher and Trent Sinnett are just 3 points away from each other. Cindy Moll leads the women, also by 3 points over Michelle Kline. 15k womens points are currently led firmly by Nita Martens, as her competitors have each only raced once. But the most exciting series so far is the men's 15k, where Russ Goodman and Mark Doctor are tied for the lead, with Alan Bell and Lance Rygiel also tied, just 4 points behind. The course was held primarily on new trails being constructed specifically for mountain biking, trail running, and hiking. The construction is being coordinated by the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association and DINO.
