DINO Challenge Festival Results

A number of outdoor sports enthusiasts, trail runners and mountain bike riders, spent the weekend at Muscatatuck County Park in North Vernon at the DINO Challenge Festival. The weekend's highlights included The Extreme Outfitters' DINO Trail Run Series race #4, a downhill mountain bike race, short track mountain bike racing, and a cross-country mountain bike race using the 15k run course.

Special goodies for the event included Miller Chiropractic Clinic's free pre-race meal with home-made pasta. Title Sponsor The Extreme Outfitters provided an assortment of prizes given randomly at the award ceremony.

On the hilly, rugged 15k course, Roger Busch dominated at 1:01:06, more than three minutes over Russ Goodman's second place finish. Goodman holds the series lead. Third place overall was a sprint finish where Jesse Cacy edged out Joe Hoffman for the podium spot. Allison Wolf's 1:18:29 placed her first for the 15k Women. More than 10 minutes behind were Kristi Hill and Janet Cole. Wolf, though currently trailing in points to Elaine Green, could be in a close battle with Kristi Lippencott for the series title, if each runner completes two more races.

The 5k was much closer with series leader Cindy Harris' 22:59 giving her the win over Amanda Holzhausen. Third overall went to Stacey Lee. Andy Wallace continues to be unbeaten this year in the 5k series, winning this weekend over Lance Nelson and James Harris in third.

James Harris captured some excellent action photos after his finish - be sure to take a look! PHOTOS

New Castle Next

The Extreme Outfitters' DINO Trail Run Series next race is near New Castle, Indiana, about 45 minutes east of Indianapolis. DINO last visited Westwood Park in 2001 and 2002. The 2005 course is greatly improved, due to construction of a new trail, built by HMBA volunteers.

The 15k course is a single, scenic, epic, counterclockwise loop around Westwood's lake; offering vistas, hills, and plenty of challenging terrain. The 5k course will join in the end of the loop, providing an easy start and a challenging finish.

The Extreme Outfitters once again have provided a selection of prizes to be presnted randomly; among them are 2 pairs of Montrail trail running shoes. Must be present to win at the post-race award time!
