New Crop of Winners at Town Run Trail
The September 9 DINO Trail Run at Town Run Trail provided an opportunity for first-time winners to excel. It was a pleasant day to be out enjoying these popular trails on the north side of Indianapolis.
15k Series standings changed little despite two first-time winners. Josh Kendall finished at 1:02:19, about one minute ahead of series leader Scott Fihma, whle Russ Goodman took third nearly three minutes later. The women's race was won by Claire Lutkewitte of Muncie, at 1:15:24. Chikage Castle was her nearest contender, and Brooke Fihma grabbed third overall.
5k winner Jake Quagliaroli put a minute on Duane Dye, the current series leader. Rounding out the top three was Andrew Doub. The only prior winner to win at Town Run was Whitney Diggs, who also won at Avon in April. Diggs' 24:36 run set her 30 seconds ahead of second (Amanda Figolah), and Sarah Meador in third (younger sister Samantha Meador trailed seconds behind for fourth).
Heading into the final two races, low scores will be dropped - shaking up the standings considerably. Watch for runners like Diggs, Lance Nelson, and Matt Sweetman to move up, as they have missed one or two races. The best five point values from the series of seven races will count toward the final total. Top overall series point-holders will receive Pyro Apparel DINO Champions' Singlets. Age group
winners (below these overall awards) will win a medal at the DINO Victory Banquet on November 18.
