Located conveniently on the southwest corner of the city, Indianapolis' trail runners can enjoy this park's challenging hill climb any time. The course begins with an easy mile in the White River lowlands. The second mile turns upward, with a series of climbs leading to great river views and eventually the peak of Mann Hill, at which point the trail points downward for a wild half-mile downhill dash to the finish. 15k Runners will complete three laps of this 5k loop. Every DINO Trail Run Series is open to any runner (hikers welcome too) regardless of age or ability! Directions: Southwestway Park is on Indianapolis Southwest side, on Mann Road. The Mann Road exit can only be accessed from Eastbound on I-465. If you are coming from the East: Exit I-465 at Mann Road and turn left. Travel 2.7 miles South on Mann Road. Southwestway Park is on the East (left) side. Overflow parking is on the West side of Mann Road. If you are coming from the West: Exit I-465 at Kentucky Avenue. Turn SW (left) and follow Kentucky Avenue for 0.6 miles. Turn South (left) at High School Road for 0.2 miles. Turn East (left) on Thompson Road. Follow Thompson for 1.4 miles, which will put you at the I-465 / Mann Road interchange. Turn South (right). Travel 2.7 miles South on Mann Road. Southwestway Park is on the East (left) side. Overflow parking is on the West side of Mann Road. To register or get more information, visit http://dinoseries.com/run/schedule/2003/race6.htm DINO last visited Southwestway in 2001. A few seats are still available for the DINO Victory Banquet - a lunch buffet banquet following the November 8 DINO Trail Run at Southwestway Park. Join DINO for good food and great memories from the race season. Series awards will be presented, as well as some special awards and prizes. All DINO Trail Runners are welcome, not just award winners. Family and friends are invited as well. Early reservations are required! Send $15 per person to DINO, PO Box 36395, Indianapolis IN 46236. Point scores from each runner's best 4 races are added toward the series standings. A minimum of 3 races must be finished to be eligible. Point standings are posted at http://www.dinoseries.com/run/results/ Award note: If you would like a "finisher" medallion for any races you finished, but did not place in your age group - you can buy one for $1 each at any of the remaining races or at the victory banquet. ##### POINT SERIES WILL COME DOWN TO THE FINAL RACE! The DINO Trail Run Series are in an incredibly close contest going into the final race. The top positions of Men's and Women's 15k, plus the 5k men's, are up for grabs with the results of the November 8 run. Only the 5k women's is locked in - with Cindy (Moll) Harris holding a perfect 800 point score. In the Men's 15k, first place is an exact tie between Russ Goodman and Mark Doctor. Because only the top 4 scores count, Goodman actually has the advantage because he'll drop less than Doctor (assuming both finish in the top 10 overall). Doctor must finish two positions ahead of Goodman to take the series title. However, the unknown factor is Mike Heffron, who has the potential to take over despite running only 3 races so far. The Men's 5k is the most interesting - Jesse Cacy currently leads by one point over James Harris, but after the final race both will drop their lowest score - putting the two in an exact tie. Thus, if both race in the final it will simply be who finishes first that determines the series title. The Women's 15k leader, Tina Fearnow, has a 2-point advantage over Kristy Lippencott. However when their lowest scores are dropped, Fearnow will need to finish 3 women ahead of Lippencott to win the series. Similar battles for position abound further down the charts. Series awards (Pyro Apparel Champion's Singlets) will be distributed as follows: 5k Women - top 5 5k Men - top 7 15k Women - top 3 15k Men - top 9 Series standings: http://www.dinoseries.com/run/results/ ##### TECUMSEH TRAIL MARATHON ENTRY DEADLINE FOUR WEEKS AWAY November 24 is the last day to register at the lower price for the Tecumseh Trail Marathon.
