200 runners and walkers enjoyed a beautiful day to wrap up the 2006 DINO Trail Run Series. SouthEastway Park provided the venue with a course that made cross-country runners feel at home.

Afterwards, series champions and guests enjoyed the fireplace and tasty Yats food at the victory banquet. Overall winners received singlets and age group champs claimed medals.

The 15k certainly provided the most exciting battles of the day. Series leader Scott Fihma traded the lead with Bob Cacy throughout the race. Cacy gained on the slippery trail segments, but Fihma used the open stretches to his advantage. In the end, only two seconds separated them as Fihma sprinted to his first ever DINO win at 1:00:30. The women's race was nearly as close, with Chikage Castle's win at 1:14:56 ahead of Andrea Jones by just three seconds.

Lance Nelson's 17:18 finish in the 5k landed him the series title. Nelson finished the SouthEastway race in front of Ben Bizuneh and Jason Beehler, who claimed the second and third place.

Renee Masterson was the only female 5k runner to break 20 minutes in this year's 7-race series. She finished first, with Nicolette Crouch second and Whitney Diggs third.

This Saturday's 4th annual Tecumseh Trail Marathon has sold out with 500 runners.

The Yellowwood Lake Fun Run, a 5-mile low frills race, is still open. Registration on-line is open today and race-day registration is available from 9 am to the 11 am start time. The Fun Run starts and ends at the Yellowwood State Forest campground shelterhouse.
