Death March Update 02-03-23

What's New for Death March? | What is the Death March Ride?

What's New For Death March? 2023 brings some exciting changes for Death March Ride! -- NEW Death March LITE division: All the fun and strategy, with fewer miles! LITE division riders need to reach only TWO of the five mandatory checkpoints. There is a maximum of ten total checkpoints applied toward results. Like the full distance, time bonuses are deducted from the elapsed ride time. -- Parent/Youth teams are now part of the new LITE division - adding a bit more strategy, and importance of the race morning random picks. -- "Sweet Sixteen" bonus has been eliminated (bonus for reaching all 16 cemeteries). This brings the strategy element a bit more back into the game; riding to every checkpoint should be less necessary to win. -- A new set of checkpoints and bonuses will be posted by March 1. Our website currently shows the 2022 checkpoints. Some will remain, but we'll swap a few different cemeteries in! Race day is Saturday, March 25! Registration is open!

What is the Death March Ride?

Death March Ride is a choose-your-own adventure on your bike! You and your teammate ride to historic cemeteries in and around the Hoosier National Forest. You'll take a selfie type photo at each cemetery checkpoint. Some checkpoints are mandatory; others earn you a time bonus which is deducted from your elapsed ride time. The lowest net (adjusted) time wins! You choose your own route. Much of the terrain is gravel road mixed with some pavement. There are some doubletrack and singletrack routes that are optional or could be necessary depending on the cemeteries drawn at random.
